SUMMER SQUASH

Summer Squash, Patty Pan, Zucchini

VARIETY:

Sunburst - Patty Pan

Raven - Green Zucchini

Sebring - Yellow Zucchini

Safari - Zucchini

Goldmine - Zucchini

STORAGE:

Ideal temp: 40-50℉

Most of us don't have a room in our house that is consistently between 40-50℉  during the summer (unless you have a root cellar or very cool, dry basement). At the farm, we have a walk-in cooler kept at this temperature, because many veggies are best stored in this range.

Keep in your fridge in the warmest spot (closest to the front). Store unwashed in a paper bag or open plastic bag, and be careful of bruising. A closed plastic bag in cold storage will cause summer squash to become slimy and rot. Very fresh squash has little hairs on it, so rinse carefully and dry before use. Storage life: 1-2 weeks.
